NZ Hearts Supporters Club

NZ Hearts is a supporters club which meets on a monthly basis to enjoy the club we love.  All Scottish football supporters are welcome to join us on the
first Sunday of every month.

The History of NZ Hearts

The New Zealand Hearts Supporters Club was formed in the early nineties with Phil Rossenrode being the principal founder and contact.

He was joined by Anson Davies and Ian Bissett who met regularly with the NZ Celtic Supporters Club at Kitty O'Briens Pub in Auckland City.

Over the years we were joined by David Evans who was a motivating force behind regular contact with other members.  Sadly David passed away and NZ Hearts went into hibernation.

In 1995 Anson Davies travelled to Edinburgh for his Hearts Overseas Experience. Instead of doing what most Kiwis do and live in London and travel to Europe, he joined the Mill Hearts and spent 2 and 1/2 years enjoying the full Jambo passion.

He met and married a die-hard Jambo, Jill Dalziel a member of the Rainbow Hearts SC.  The friends and hospitality shown by fellow Hearts supporters says a lot about what being part of a club is all about.

Special credit must go to John and Dianne Borthwick, Gavin and Catriona Slawson, Karen Whitehead and the Gasman for their amazing generosity during Anson's stay in Scotland.

His stay included sending back reports to NZ and putting a goal past Jim Leighton at Easter Rd, live on the "Big Breakfast".

Jill and Anson returned to NZ in 1997 and the club had all but disappeared due in main to the arrival of the internet and the departure of key members.

In 2004 Anson was approached by Alex Foulkes (the Chairman's son) to restart the club.

2005 sees the rebirth of NZ Hearts, the most far-flung outpost in the Jambo universe.
